Pauline Tang Corpuz is passionate about performance and international musical collaboration. She has extensively performed and collaborated with acclaimed musicians as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player across the United States, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, and China. Her festival and exchange experiences include Aurora Music Festival, the American Institute of Musical Studies Festival Orchestra, the International Academy of Music, Hot Springs Music Festival, Beverly Hills International Music Festival, the Quartet Program, and the Kagoshima Cultural Exchange Program.
Tang solo performances in At Night of the Opera and Heaven and Underworld—with the Hong Kong Symphony and Hong Kong Wind Symphony respectively—were well received by audiences. She has also worked with the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra and the University Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4 and Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2.
As one of the founders of Splendour Music (established in 2015), Tang presents creative, life-message-driven music through multimedia concert productions. In 2018, her production Sprout was co-organized with the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), supported by the HKAPA Creative Collaboration Project Fund. The project crossed classical and contemporary music with dance, drama, interactive app elements, and video imagery. Tang served as Creative Music Director—helping shape the plot and music program, coordinating and participating in rehearsals and performances as both performer and actress. The production team involved 70+ members, including faculty members, alumni, and students from the School of Music, Drama, Dance, Film & TV, Theatre and Entertainment Arts, and Chinese Opera. Other past productions include Hope in Lamentations, Traverse, and Splendour. During the pandemic, the organization produced the online concert Victory in Adversity to bring positive energy to society.
Tang actively performs contemporary and chamber music. She was invited by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble to attend Sounds of Tomorrow (ISCM World Music Days 2016) and to participate in the Tongyeong International Music Festival in South Korea. She has also taken part in events including the Chung Chi Composers’ concert, Sound Imagination Hong Kong Snapshots, and university tours with the Hong Kong Composer Guild Music Ensemble. In addition, she received an invitation from renowned Hong Kong yangqin soloist Kwok Ka Ying to premiere Jamie Lin’s 1949 Overture for yangqin and string quartet. Tang has performed widely in chamber settings such as string quartet, piano trio, piano quartet, and with winds.
With extensive orchestral experience, Tang has performed under conductors including Edo de Waart, Henry Shek, Gerrit Priessnitz (Vienna), Joseph Colaneri (Metropolitan Opera, NYC), and Peter Bay (Austin Symphony Orchestra, USA). She has been a member of (or has collaborated with) the Hong Kong String Orchestra, New Philharmonia of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra, Six Arts Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, Opera Hong Kong, Hong Kong Symphonia, Inheritage Philharmonic, and as guest violinist for the Vocational Training Council (VTC) Symphony Orchestra. She is currently the concertmaster of the Global Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Mak Ka Lok.
Driven by a commitment to social service, Tang collaborates with Food Angel (NGO) on the music project Love, Make Dream Fly, where she leads program event coordination and budget planning. The project provides low-income children with opportunities for music training and performances alongside professional musicians. She is also a classical music development advisor for the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, serving as a performer, holding masterclasses, and adjudicating instrumental competitions. Tang has delivered talks, performances, and masterclasses at secondary schools to inspire young people to pursue a passion for music. She has served as repertoire selector for the graded Violin Solo classes of the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association Music Festival, adjudicator for competitions organized by the Hong Kong Youth Performance Art and Development Association, lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (School of Continuing and Professional Studies), and guest speaker for the “Performance Studies” seminar at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).
Recently, she has performed regularly at five-star hotels such as Shangri-La, The Peninsula, and Rosewood. She also played electric violin with the live band Twilight Vio at Foxglove. Recently, she has explored jazz and expanded her repertoire beyond classical music.
Tang has also promoted classical music through media appearances, including TVB’s Cultural Square and Tuesday Report, RTHK Radio 4’s Children’s Corner, and Metro Radio’s Original Life. She was recently featured in HKUST Alumni Magazine Sound of The Success and invited as a featured alumnus for HKUST’s 30th Anniversary video. On 17 November 2021, she was invited as the first solo performer at the opening ceremony of the Shaw Auditorium.
